The ANIMATION MARCH 2017 FEEDBACK Film Festival gave our audiences simply the best of short animated movies from around the world.

The theme of the festival was “DIGGING YOURSELF OUT OF A HOLE”.

Every film showcased was about a character that was an attempting to get out of a very sad or do or die situation occuring. Some characters triumphed as others simply got to the surface and maintained.

NOTE: This was the 2nd festival where we moved to the largest theater at the Carlton cinemas. It seems to be working out!

The night gave us 7 animation short films made in the last 18 months from 6 different countries. It also gave us different animated styles and concepts. From hand drawn to computer to typography to classic vector based animation. It was a true showcase of some amazing talent from around the world

This wasn’t a night to bring the kids either. Three films in particular (Karouma, My Life I Don’t Want, Hanging) were very sad and dark, but also extremely important films about disability, female disparity in 3rd world countries, and suicide. Using the animated medium to tell these important stories was truly inspiring.

Of course we had to flip the emotions and showcase some great comedies (Wall, Baby and Grandma, Snoot in the City, Dirty Pool) that were all about battling a larger force through tenacity and intellect.

It was definitely my favourite festival night (so far) of the year, and I’m SO honored to showcase these amazing films at the festival.

See you at the festivals in 2017.
