AJ Fuller grew up near Chicago, Illinois, where she earned a BFA at DePaul University in animation and visual development. Her senior capstone film ‘Ink’ is her debut in the world of animated short films. AJ will continue to develop her skills as a visual artist and storyteller post-graduation, and she has plans to write and publish a graphic novel. AJ’s career goal is to make a name for herself as a visual storyteller and animation director.
Director Statement
I created ‘Ink’ because I could not think of a short film idea to save my life. I struggled for days and days, brainstorming and rejecting idea after idea. In the end, I was so anxious about starting this project that my creative brain completely shut down. In that darkness I thought, “I should make a film about this feeling. About this terrifying void, the anxious calm before the storm”. ‘Ink’ was born out of my expression of fear, and through animating it I discovered a confidence I had no idea was there before.
